This isn’t entirely true. Yes, stereotypes have negative effects, but they exist for a reason. Stereotypes help your brain sort information efficiently and save time. They keep you from becoming overwhelmed by the fact that every person is a unique individual.

Yes, we should work to look past these. But stereotypes aren’t evil. They’re natural.
